Zoe Saldana, GotG's Gamora, sits down with MTV to discuss Guardians of the Galaxy - and she had some pretty good things to say. Hit the jump to see the video.

Zoe seems genuinely excited about the movie, her fellow cast members, and the director James Gunn. During this lull in information coming out of the GotG camp, it's nice to see the cast talk about the movie and keep us interested. What about you, Galaxians? Does this video whet your appetite for Guardians news? Do you think the way Zoe describes the movie is a good thing, or would you take it in another direction?

Editorial: The Correct Interpretation of Guardians of the Galaxy 11 Animal Variant

$

I have an image to show you that may be disturbing to some of our Raccoonatic visitors.  This, brace yourself, is an official variant for Guardians of the Galaxy Issue 11 that is part of an animal set of variants across Marvel.

All the Guardians in this proposed alternate universe are raccoons, except for one.  Do not fret, Rocket fans, it is not what it seems... (read more...)

There may be news sites that interpret that man in Rocket's current costume to be Rocket himself, but worry not, there are not names here.  I propose to you, my Raccoonatics, the true, and far less disturbing, explanation of this alternate universe (which we will designate 61976, after the month and year Rocket was created).

Rocket Raccoon is an awesome hero, but not just because he is a raccoon, no.  He is a funny, badass with superhuman cunning and one of the galaxy's best arsenals.  Unfortunately, in the 616, not many other people take him seriously, and so he has not much choice but to remain allied with his fellow misfit friends in the deep space fringe supergroup Guardians of the Galaxy.  In the anthro raccoon dominated 61976 universe, however, Rocket's being a raccoon is not disrespected and the other stuff ,that makes him the most awesome hero there is, becomes recognized.  He becomes well-respected and known on many planets, not the least of which is Earth, where he becomes the premier superhero because of his awesomeness, becoming more popular and beloved to the people of Earth than the 61976's Avengers or Fantastic Four.  With this surge of popularity he has outgrown his deep space Guardians of the Galaxy team and has taken on a role of commanding various super teams from his orbital space station/palace through his supreme tactical genius.  He bids a fond farewell to his longtime friends and comrades and hands off his costume and Guardians tactical position to a slave from some outlying alien world (a member of a race called humans).

Do not worry, through high tech communication and teleportation, 61976 Rocket still stays in contact with his former Guardians teammates and still finds time, between crimefighting, to hang out in seedy space bars with his best buds raccoon Groot and raccoon Peter Quill.

That is the Raccoonatic Commander's official interpretation of this universe-creating variant cover. And if you do not accept that story, too flarkin' bad.

Oh, and a bonus image from the 61976, of Rocket before he left the Guardians team. (This one is a piece of fan art that I saw on Twitter first, and I later posted to a topic on MH forums, it is the earlier pic on the page, yellow background)

Update: It has just been pointed out to me that the human may be Logan.  So, that will be my ruling.  The human is 61976 Logan. Still from a different planet, he is a human, after all.  But we will simply say that the Weapon X program on Earth 61976 was involved in space exploration as well and found and captured Logan to make him a weapon.

Slight Spoilers! FCDB mystery character revealed!

Could it be Cable, whom would fit all-too-well in that silhouette, but would make NO sense whatsoever in Guardians? Could it be, as Charles Lee suggested, Nebula in LOTS of body armor?
Hit the jump to find out who the shadowy figure on this cover is!

AGENT VENOM!
Dun dun dun dunnnn!
(Okay, maybe that isn't as big of a surprise to some of you.)

After Leo mentioned the possibility of it being Venom to me, it really wasn't that far of a jump. I should've guessed it, but my head just didn't go there for some reason. But this totally makes sense. And has the potential for some really great story.

What do you think, Galaxians? Is this a good move? Do you like the idea of visiting the symbiote planet? Is tying the Guardians to yet more earth-based characters just getting further away from the cosmic-related stories so many of us long to see for this re-vamped team? Do you think Captain Marvel and Agent Venom will stick around longer a story arc, or are they just honorary members? Let us know!

We here at Guard The Galaxy have so much to be thankful for; Marvel Comics in general, an amazing comic book, an exciting movie, the incredible friends we've made through this fan site, and of course, ALL of our fellow Galaxians. So here's us wishing you all a happy, safe, and geeky holiday, and we hope you take some time out to reflect on what you have to be thankful for, no matter where you are or how you celebrate (or don't) this holiday season. Take care, everybody!

Bradley Cooper talks GOTG and Rocket's Accent

Collider.com was able to ask Bradley Cooper about his role with Rocket, what made him take the role, and Rocket's accent! Hit the jump for the video!

I was so hoping for something from Cooper, telling us what voice he decided to go with, but it is hopeful that it was at least a discussion; they're acknowledging the fact that Rocket has had a certain kind of accent. So even if they decide to take the character in another direction, for whatever reason, at least they're considering the source material and the original way Rocket's been portrayed.

Every time I hear someone talk about Chris Pratt's performance, it makes me twice as excited to see it.

Galaxians! Would you be okay if Rocket had a "city" accent? He says that, and I immediately think, tough-guy New Yorker or something. Leave a comment below and let us know what you think!

IT'S OFFICIAL! Vin Diesel as GROOT!

First off, I'd like to apologize for the huge delay in releasing this update, my fellow Galaxians. I've been struck with a huge ice storm and have been without power for a couple of days. All is well now, however, so it's time for the official announcement!

Vin Diesel is the voice of Groot in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Yes, we've known this for a long time, Vin has talked about this for a long time, but Marvel made the official announcement day before yesterday

I have to say, as soon as I heard Vin was meeting with Marvel for something, I was hoping this is what would come of it. I know he wanted to play Vision and there were/are whispers of him being involved in Inhumans and Black Bolt. But I really felt he'd be a good fit here and could be a big part of bringing Groot to life and helping make him a fan-favorite character of Chewbacca proportions.

What do you guys think? Were you hoping for someone specific that wasn't Vin Diesel to voice Groot? Let your voices be heard in the comments below!

Updates!

Hello, Galaxians! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and is looking forward to a wonderful New Year's celebration tonight. This holiday season has kicked my butt, so here's a quick update of what's been going on this past week or so while I've been juggling family, presents, and new pets!

First and foremost, Brian Michael Bendis shared these awesome pictures of The Guardians on his Tumblr as part of his "2014 in comics" preview. Hit the jump for the rest of the update!

On the heel of being named one of the most anticipated movies of 2014 across multiple websites (#2 on ScreenRant ) we also get an interview from Empire magazine. (Source: NerdBastards )

Director James Gunn and Star-Lord Chris Pratt have a couple of things to say about their upcoming Marvel-Cinematic-Universe-MovieGuardians of the Galaxy.

The pair recently talked with Empire and when asked about where this movie fits into the Marvel Movie Universe he had this to say:

Maybe it’s a risk, I dunno, I think every movie Marvel’s made has been a risk and they’re risks that pay off really big. So I hope for the movie’s sake, and my sake, that this one pays off. The story’s really good and Marvel really knows what they’re doing.

Pratt went on to discuss the overall tone of the movie:

It’s not as broad as Galaxy Quest but it’s not a straightforward space fantasy like Star Wars. I think it’s the sort of the best of both of those films put together…and more!

Gunn then stepped in and described what the police lineup scene below is all about:

Our characters are basically all villains to begin with. They don’t believe they’re individually good and they don’t believe each other is good, and through the course of the movie they discover they’re heroes. If The Avengers are The Beatles, these guys are The Rolling Stones.

Peter Quill (Future Star-Lord played by Chris Pratt) is thrown in jail. He then meets the rest of the group and together they plan an escape and:

Go after a treasure that they all want for different reasons.

--------------------------------------------

So, no big news, but nice to see them getting some press and seeing the name out there. That's always a good thing.

Here's looking forward to an amazing 2014 and even more Guardians of the Galaxy goodness!

Flarkin' Awesome! 006

Cosmic greetings, Raccoonatics and Galaxians! I am Leo Wyld, your Raccoonatic Commander. Welcome to 2014, what I am calling the Year of the Raccoon. I truly believe this year will be Rocket's to shine, in the public eye (he's awesome to us any time). On to the matter at hand, which today will be more villainous Marvel Heroes propaganda...

Flarkin' Awesome! Issue 006 - (Almost) All the Right Moves

Unless you have skillfully avoided all my other writing on the site (for shame!), you know that I am a frequent player of the Free-2-Play online game Marvel Heroes.  It is what got me to read comics, and to discover the awesomeness that is Rocket Raccoon. And, in this humble critter's opinion, it is a das't enjoyable game that continues to improve, with one of the most amazing communities I have ever seen.  In any case, I did a review, a brief update regarding the 2.0 patch, a Flarkin' Awesome issue about his costumes on the game, and a news announcement of the only new costume he has received since launch, but I have not yet examined, in depth, how he plays, his powers, his moves. And that is what we are here to examine today... (More After the Jump)

Rocket is, at his core, a ranged hero, which should be a surprise to approximately no-one.  That said, Gazillion his lumped that basic ranged concept with a sort of summoner class.  Is this true to his typical comic style, perhaps not, but we'll get into more detail on that....

As with other heroes, Rocket's powers are divided into three "trees"...

Rocket's Power Trees

Galactic Guardian Tree

Rocket Raccoon is a unique hero to play, indeed, and there are a couple different ways to play him (maybe more). I am a firm believer that you should play the way that is fun to you. I figured my build out on "feel" alone, what I felt worked against enemies, in certain situations, etc. Others use raw numbers and math more. In any case, my build focuses more on Rocket's guns attacks than anything else and, for that reason, this tree is probably my favorite and most used.

Quick Shot - "Fire a pistol shot that damages the first enemy in its path"

Blaster pistols have been a staple of Rocket's heroic repertoire since his debut. Besides always have them drawn as part of his regular model, they are used in a couple powers. Quick Shot is a basic power, you get it at level 1 and it costs no spirit. It is a little bit of pew-pew. Perhaps not very powerful, but it is, per its name, quite quick.
Neutron Shot - "Fire a powerful shot from your blaster that slows down the first enemy in its path."

Another blaster pistol power. You get this one later on, and, as another basic, it costs no spirit. It is not as quick as Quick Shot and many players do not consider it's slowing properties worth it.

Energy Barrage - "Hold down the hotkey to fire a continuous barrage of energy beams."

Rocket's first real big gun power. Think high-tech plasma machine gun. This is not unlike some of the spacier guns he has been using recently in the Guardians volume 3 era. Good attack to use at low levels, but I feel, personally, his later big gun powers can replace it.

Rocket Pack - "Hold down the hotkey to activate your rocket pack and fly above enemies and obstacles."

Rocket's transportation device of choice in the Modern era (like many other people, Rocket abandoned his skates after the 80's). Comic-accurate and helpful for getting somewhere quick on a public combat zone when you don't want to both with trash mobs and ambushes. You cannot use any powers while using it, though, and it can be a spirit drain (unless you have the right gear). When your spirit runs out, you drop down automatically to the nearest engine-allowed landing spot.

Personal Defscreen - "Activate a protective energy field that negates some incoming damage."

Three trees of powers requires that some creativity be applied when coming up with powers. The closest comic link for this one I can think of is that the Rakk N' Ruin (if it really existed) had some sort of shielding technology (they were mentioned in panel, anyway). So Rocket does, possibly, know of such tech. Like some of his other powers, I write this one off to Rocky having to adapt to operating without a team (and he almost always has a team, whether it was just Wal or the Guardians). It is conceivable, on his own, he might need the extra defenses. In any case, there is a blue resource bar just above your experience for Rocket, when you use this, the shielding applies and the bar is filled. As you take damage, or use the next power below, it is emptied. As long as there is some shield resource left, the Defscreen works, when it is completely empty, it disappears. Since it was nerfed some in potency in a recent patch, some people have stopped using it. Myself, I always keep it active. (It is also not always so visible, it sort of pulses like in the pic occasionally)

Tactical Destruction - "Fire a devastating shot that blasts each enemy in its path.  This power deals extra damage by draining your shield capacity."

Chargeable power, does the most damage if you charge it fully, but you can release the key early for lesser damage (they temporarily removed that option for a while, but it is back). If you have any Shield resource, see above power, it drains a percentage of it to buff the damage. As such, these two powers benefit each other. This is another big gun attack and one of my staples. Rocket pulls out one of his cannons, charges and fires off a beam of energy so powerful it literally knocks him for a loop (the beginning of that animation in the screen). Precise but very dangerous and destructive, reminds me a lot of our hero himself. Not for large groups, since it is a beam, but stragglers, small groups, and bosses, this is my go-to. Comic connection, it is functionally kinda like the gun he used to breach the shielding of the badoon battleship in issue 1 of Guardians volume 3. "You guys want to see something funny? Watch this."

Big Flarkin' Gun - "Wait, how does he even CARRY a gun that big?"

Ok. Tactical Destruction might be a nice metaphor for Rocket Raccoon, but this power, this is really what he is all about!  The essence of Rocket, big destructive cannon.  He pulls out his largest cannon in the set and fires off an arch of enemy-melting energy that continues as long as you have spirit and you keep the pressed, and it can be rotated!  This is my trash mob cleaner and, in my opinion, just a very fun power to use.  You do not get it until the 20's, though, unless you unlock it early with gear. Comic-connection.  I have trouble thinking of a particular use of a gun like this, but it is not unlike the one he supposedly used on Gladiator (although that was a telepathically disguised mop, so I guess that don't count).  Even so, Rocket would definitely not be opposed to using this weapon.

Tactical Genius Tree

Of all the trees, this one likely takes the most creative liberties for Rocket, giving him a number of devices he has never used (but, again, theoretically could use, were he forced to operate on his own).  Some people put a lot of focused into this tree, and that is one of his possible build choices. Me, I mostly ignore it (because I prefer the guns)

Cunning Shot - "Roll out of combat, firing a blaster shot that stuns an enemy."

Ok. Not all the powers in this tree use devices, this is the one that doesn't. A distance-maker essentially, since Rocket is primarily ranged. He jumps backwards into a roll while firing off his blaster pistols.  Definitely, a rather Rocket thing to do; he has, on a number of occasions, combined acrobatics with gunplay (in his Annihilators side feature, in particular).  The problem is, with the many other ways Rocket has to stay alive, it is not very necessary.  But, as with any power, if you can make it work for you, go ahead.

Blaster Turret - "Set up an automated turret that blasts your enemies."

A recent tweaking improved Rocket's turret powers significantly. You can have multiples of the same type out at once, when it was once only one of each kind at a time. They appear instantly, whereas there was once a set-down-the-device animation. And Blaster Turret, in particular, saw its damage buffed. More on that at the end of the article. This turret automatically fires energy "bullets" at enemies. The closest thing to any of his turrets in the comics would've been the mounted chain guns he had to use in Annihilation: Conquest, because the team was forced to operate low-tech.  It should be noted, that those were directly operated mounted guns, however, and not automated.

Time Dilator - "Set up a high-tech gadget that slows nearby enemies and enemy projectiles."

A device creates a large aura of subtle blue light.  It slows enemies and their shots that enter said area of light, allowing Rocket to move out of the way or eliminate the enemies before they are a problem.  Again, not strictly canon, but the modern Guardians have seen their share of time-space anomalies, so maybe it fits in that sense.

Shield Generator - "Set up a large force bubble that deflects incoming projectiles."

This little device used to deflect almost all projectiles 100 percent of the time, now, it is only a chance of deflecting them. I used to rely on it against bosses that had dangerous projectiles, now relying on it can be a danger, since it isn't 100 percent deflection. Still, I guess, it offers a level of protection, and, say, against a large group that is firing deflectable projectiles, it could help. There is a unique that gives each turret an extra ability, said unique, if equipped, makes Shield Generator heal you if you are inside of its bubble, so it can be useful in that way. Comic connection? Not one, but,I dunno, if Rocket could use a Personal DefScreen, I guess he could use this.

Suppression Turret - "Set up an automated turret that stuns your enemies."

Stuns and does Area of Effect damage! Helpful for large groups of mobs or very large groups of mobs that could become a danger. This is one of the turrets I still use on occasion, although, as a gunner, I still would prefer to rely mostly on BFG for the big groups.

Stun Grenade - "Toss a grenade that stuns nearby enemies when it explodes."
Some people think, because of his name, Rocket uses rocket launchers. Nope, Rocket is his real given name (chosen as a sci-fi tweaking on Rocky, as in the Beatles song). He has never canonically used a rocket launcher. Nor has ever seemed to use many explosives. He used one explosive device, in Guardians volume 2 issue 1, but Rocky seems to prefer to shoot things until they explode rather than just explode them outright. In any case, Rocket has a couple grenade-ish attacks on MH, although, to be fair, neither are really traditionally explosive. Rocket leaps quickly into the air, tosses a red grenade, it flashes brightly and stuns enemies. Another way to get mobs at a distance or slow them for a kill. I don't use it, but that's just me.

Gravity Mine - "Toss a device that redirects gravity to pull all enemies toward it."

Ok, so the other one is a mine and not a grenade. The tagline explains what it does well enough.  Another power I don't use much myself, but I hear it was buffed in the recent tweaking and it adds a vulnerability status to enemies that temporarily makes them take more damage.

Space Raccoon Tree

Lest it not be forgotten that Rocket is a genetically modified raccoon. (#RocketIsARaccoon).

Burrowing Escape - "Burrow underground to another location, causing enemies to briefly ignore you. When you emerge from the burrow, you will move with increased speed."

Ugh. Apparently, someone did not get the memo that the Marvel versus Capcom games are fun first, and accurate second. Including non-canonical abilities is not only uncommon, it is sometimes more the rule than the exception. On UMvC3 Rocket has a number of abilities that are not canon, this is one of them. He has never dug in the dirt, and even once indicated he didn't like being underground. I guess we can be thankful it is the only MvC "power" they chose to give him. Functionally, I cannot deny it is helpful. When I am boxed in and hurting, this is a life-saving escape. For people with turret builds, this keeps aggro on their turrets. I simply wish they had used the same function of the ability, but had done a teleport "jump" with his Passport device instead. Would've done the same thing, and been canon. The function was needed, the power design itself, well, someone took a wrong turn at Rigel IV (Rant over.)

Pistol Whip - "Surprise your enemy with a strike that might stun that foe."

This is a basic attack, meaning no spirit cost, and you get it at the early levels. Basically, this is the first option you have for dealing with mobs who get too close. Canonical? Well, Rocket's seen a barfight or two, he's not above punching (with or without a gun in his hand). I'd say it fits fine. There was a time in Beta when Cyclops had a punch attack that was unusually powerful in one patch iteration, so someone made a joke of playing with relying primarily on the punching and called him Punchclops, ended up making a webcomic out of it. The guy, he got his account name officially changed to Punchclops in Beta, still plays "Punchclops", even though it is now far from optimal, and he is in my guild today. In any case, that once prompted me to joke someone could play Pistol Whipcoon. That never quite took off in the same way. But, strangely enough, I've never been a fan of the power, myself, so I don't really use it. But I can see how it could be useful.

Timely Recovery - "End all negative conditions affecting you, gaining immunity to those conditions for a brief time."

A debuff counter basically is what this one is, good against stuns and slows and the like. Rocket is an agile, cunning, and often lucky, guy, he's escaped a tight spot on more than one occasion, so this is a decent buff idea for him design-wise. (And the name? An homage to his one-time mailroom job, perhaps. Probably not. Heh.)

Shrewd Dude - "Your size and cunning make you a hard target to hit."

This is a passive. As you add more points, it increases your dodge rating for yourself *and* for your allies. Hey, Rocket's cunning has helped the direct the entire team to safety on more than one occasion. He once had a separate power called Cunning Plan that gave a timed super-dodge buff to a team, and he would say "Listen to the tactical genius.". With Shrewd Dude now giving its bonus to allies, that separate power was removed.

Procyonid Senses - "Nearby enemies can't hide from your keen raccoon senses."

Another passive, you add points and it gives you a consistent buff. A nice nod to Rocket's acute animal senses because he is a raccoon. Heh. It basically shows where enemies are on your minimap. It also gives a critical rating boost. Critical rating I get from other gear, and is not as important to my playstyle, so I one point this. But there are builds for Rocket that rely on critical.

Wily Scavenger - "You have a keen nose for rare gear and weapons. Each orb you collect restores spirit and, if your Personal Defscreen is active, restore shield capacity."

Another passive (Much of this tree is).  When you pick up orbs, even if they are health orbs, you get some spirit and shield resource. This power also has a built-in buff to the rarity-find stat, which helps you find better quality gear. Well, I guess Rocket gets all those guns somewhere. Even in the most recent issue, he mentions scavenging weaponry from the Badoon. I'd say it is another good passive power for him.

My Friend Groot - "Summon your big buddy, the mighty sentient tree Groot, to fight your enemies."

For the past seven plus years, Groot has been as much a part of Rocket's identity as big guns are. I think, having Groot as a summon was one of the best decisions Gazillion made in designing Rocket for Marvel Heroes. When you summon, he drops down, does damage where he lands, and even exclaims "I am Groot". Then he makes like a powerhouse tree from Planet X and beats the flark out of any enemies that you get near.  The only downside, he has a duration timer, for some reason, and will explode when that timer expires, even if he still has health left. (Here's to hoping they change that). One good relatively recent change was moving the power from level thirty to level ten. Also, the color of his costume changes depending on the costume you are wearing.

Ultimate Power

Every hero has what is called an Ultimate Power. For most, these are earned at level 30, and they are leveled by earning special tokens through a couple methods. In the recent wave of reworks, however, the Ultimate Powers are being moved to level 52, while a new Signature Power is created for the lower levels. Rocket has not yet seen such a rework so, as of this writing, and likely a few months after, his Ultimate will remain at 30 and as described.

Spatial Warp Array

More reference to Guardians getting involved with cosmic forces and such, I guess. This is another turret-like device. It does damage, kills summons, and holds even supervillains in place (to prevent say, the Hood, from even teleporting). Helpful tool against a number of supervillains for sure. Should it be the representative ultimate power for Rocket Raccoon? No, I don't believe so. Reed Richards, maybe, but not Rocket Raccoon. However, his fans in Marvel Heroes have been pushing for his ultimate to be the "Thanosbuster" mech he once used, and even Gazillion wants to try to do it. It is still up and the air and, if it is changed, it will not be until the aforementioned rework.

What Does the Future Hold?

I am glad you asked. Ok, you probably didn't. Anyway, the big rework, it will undoubtedly bring new powers to Rocket and change functionality of existing ones. Based on what I have shown, what should change? One thing I feel he needs is a bullet-fed chain gun, like he very often used in the Guardians volume 2 era. Thanosbuster would be a much more appropriate ultimate. There is a larger concern, as a comic Rocket fan, that these turrets and devices from his Tactical tree will become more needed to play him. And I have written a topic (<-- link) about that on Marvel Heroes forums. See what you think, if you agree (or not) feel free to register to the forums and leave a comment.

Until next time, stay awesome! See ya 'round the Raccooniverse!

The poll results are in! The question was 'Will Thanos have a fight scene in the GUARDIANS film?' And the winning answer is...

Yes!
We had more votes in this poll than we have had in any poll before (mainly due to my absence). 52% think that the "Mad Titan" will in fact have a fight scene, whereas 42% think the opposite.

Thanks to everyone who took part in the poll!

In case you've been living under a rock lately (like I have been), the image above is the first official still from the upcoming GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY film. It is basically the last shot from the teaser footage seen at San Diego Comic-Con. This week, we want to know...

As of today, there are exactly 210 days until the release of Marvel Studios' best film yet (hopefully), GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. We are now living in the year 2014, which makes the anticipation so much more real. In this editorial, I am going to talk a little bit about my predictions, hopes, and fears for the year (all pertaining to GOTG, of course).

I am greatly looking forward to 2014. I know that this will be a year filled with much GUARDIANS news, whether it's the comics or the movie. I was really excited about the first official image that was released and I can't wait to get a look at our first "official" footage from the film. If I had to guess, I would say that Marvel will probably show footage during the Super Bowl on February 2nd. Since the Super Bowl has such a large audience, this would put the knowledge of GUARDIANS in many people's minds. Also, Super Bowl commercials are known for being funny, so I could see a humorous TV spot featuring Groot and Rocket, before going into action footage from the film.

As far as a theatrical trailer goes, THE LEGO MOVIE which features our very own Star-Lord, Chris Pratt, voicing the main character, will be hitting theaters on February 7th, just a few days after the Super Bowl. There will undoubtedly be a large audience for that film as well, and who better to market Rocket Raccoon to, than children (even though he's not always very kid-friendly). If not, there's always MUPPETS MOST WANTED in March or CAP 2 in April. Click the jump to read the rest!

There really hasn't been many plot details come out lately about GOTG (from what I can tell), but one quote that has been circling the web recently has got Galaxians feeling a little down. Drew McWeeny from HitFix is claiming that Thanos may not be seen in the GOTG film. Honestly, I don't believe it. As much as James Gunn and Kevin Feige have promised Thanos to us, I think it would be a mistake not to show him. After all, he is what connects this film to THE AVENGERS. Even if it is one scene at the end, I believe we'll see Thanos, and so should you! Keep hope alive, Galaxians!

"Can I at least get another cameo?" - Thanos

There are also rumors of a GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY animated series on Disney XD. Apparently, those talks have been getting more serious and I think that we'll see an animated series soon. If so, I can't wait!

After GUARDIANS is released, we will know more about the future of the "cosmic side" of Marvel's Cinematic Universe. The main question for me is, "Will GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY be able to win over the hearts of movie-goers across the world?" My biggest hope (cinematically speaking) is that GOTG will do BIG numbers at the box-office, and peak people's interest about, not only The Guardians, but all the interesting, cosmic characters that Marvel has to offer. I also hope that we'll see people take an interest in the Nova Corps, eventually leading to a NOVA film. Wouldn't that be great?
I also hope that Adam Warlock is given his own movie eventually. Although it seems like a stretch, considering Marvel Studios hasn't really said anything about the character, I think he is important in the cosmic side of things. I fear that Marvel will try to make an Infinity Gauntlet film without him.
Adam Warlock
Before signing off, I'd like to apologize for being absent and neglecting the site the past few months. As some of you know, adult life can be very, very hectic, and sometimes the things we have a passion for must take the backseat.

Now, with that being said, I'd like to tell you a cool little story about something that happened to me last year. During the last two weeks of filming, I contacted Marvel Studios' about visiting the GUARDIANS set. Before you get your hopes up, no, I didn't visit the set. But I ended up talking to a really cool guy, Barry Curtis, the Senior Security Manager for Marvel Studios on the set. He didn't tell me anything about the movie that would be considered a spoiler, but he did offer to send me a signed GOTG poster! A few weeks later, I received the SDCC concept art poster with signatures from Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), and Dave Bautista (Drax)! It was one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me, and it was all a result of the hard work that my contributors and I put into the site.

Speaking of contributors, I'd like to give a HUGE thank you to Leo Wyld and Lokein Lyesmith. Since I have been absent, they have taken over and done a great job. They probably thought I was dead or something, but I'm really proud of what they did with the place while I was gone.

Overall, last year was a great year and I am hoping 2014 will be even better. Keep in touch, Galaxians!

Marvel has released a large image promoting an April issue of DEADPOOL, in which the title character will be wed. In the promo image, (which does not reflect the actual content of the issue) Rocket Raccoon himself is a groomsman. Odds are, Rocket will not be appearing in the actual issue.

Guardians of the Galaxy/All-New X-Men Crossover Covers Update

Hello, my fellow Galaxians! I thought it was time to update on the Guardians of the Galaxy/All-New X-Men cross over - Trail of Jean Grey - covers. As you may remember from a previous post, Dale Keown has been pairing off our heroes, splitting the teams up for their own pin-up style covers.

Hit the break to see what we've got so far!

It's Rocket in his old costume! And both teams attacking Gladiator! I wasn't sure it was possible to throw so much awesome into one cover.

Here's a great spread that Bendis shared on his Tumblr of both the teams done by artist Stuart Immonen. I love the expressions and body language in this page. Say what you want, I know I'm a minority, but I love both these books. I have become such a Bendis fan over the last year. I'm really, really excited for this crossover.

Okay, enough of the group stuff, on to the covers you hit the break for!

So we've seen Rocket and Beast. Cool shot of them both, reminiscent of the Rocket/Groot shots we love so much.

Iceman and Drax, what a fun cover! Gotta love Bobby's facial expression there. His attempt at knives is clearly an attempt to bond with the gruff and terse Drax. And miserably failed attempt, at that. Poor, Bobby.

This is one of my favorite. Jean Grey and Groot. Again, the expressions on this cover tell such a fun story. Groot just isn't quite sure what to think of the lovely Ms. Grey as she attempts to communicate. Now, previous we saw a Jean Grey/Gamora cover, but I like the change. This works better for me.

Cyclops and Star-Lord. Wow. I've become such a hardcore Cyclops fan in recent years - and you guys know my feelings on Peter. To get them both in this awesome cover, shoulder-to-shoulder, in the thick of a fight, having each other's backs, this is the kind of pin-up you long to see. Two of my favorite characters in the Marvel Universe. Just awesome. Bask in the cool oozing off this picture for a moment...

Okay, enough basking. Moving on.

So much to love here. Angel hitting on Angela. You guys know I'm ecstatic to see Angela on the team, and this is such a great pairing. I've never much cared for Warren, but he's a character I love to hate. I want him around for me to dislike, if that makes any kind of sense. It just works. Makes for a great team dynamic and good storytelling. So his cheesy line he's so clearly using and the sheer loathing disdain on her face makes me a very happy geek.

Gamora and X-23. This was the cover I wanted, once I saw X-23 in the All-New X-Men style uniform. This just fits. Gamora has to be the Alpha Female and let every other female who walks in the door know it.

And lastly we come to the two female main-stays of both teams. Nice little action shot of Jean Grey and Gamora. While I love Angela's outfit, and as I've said before, I think it has it's place, I'm happy to see these costumes on these two in particular. Full-body suits, Gamora's more functional as armor than Jean's, but still, it shows that women can be fully clothed in practical uniforms and still be attractive and cool looking.

So that's what's coming out of that camp right now. Tell us what you think. Which is your favorite cover? Are you excited for this crossover? Any hopes for something you want to see out of this? Fears or concerns for things you don't want to see from this crossover? Let us know in the comments below!

2014 truly is the year of 'The Guardians.' It's becoming increasingly apparent that Marvel will be pushing GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY hard this year. Funko, the company that makes POP! vinyls, recently released these photos of the POP! prototypes of their GUARDIANS line. So far, they have only confirmed Star-Lord, Drax, and Groot, but I'm sure we'll see Rocket and Gamora too.

No word on when these will be released but I'd assume not long before the film is released. Head on over to MarvelToyNews for more pics and info.

Kevin Feige Teases Surprise Appearances, James Gunn Talks Rocket Racoon

Kevin Feige tosses a tidbit that could have us speculating for months while James Gunn gives us another ounce of info that is one babystep towards the "Rocket is a raccoon" side of the argument.

Hit the break to read get more!

“Ninety-nine percent of the film takes place on the other side of the universe with all new characters and all new worlds, although through certain connective tissue – such as Thanos in Avengers and some surprise appearances,”Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige teases.

He went onto to say that past Marvel films have been building towards this first deep space outing. “We explored some of that in the first Thor and Avengers and then more so in Thor: The Dark World.”

Since this is Marvel's newest adventure a lot is riding on this film to be a success which according to James Gunn relies on one character: Rocket Raccoon! According to Gunn, Rocket is "the heart of the movie".

“He is most representative of the Guardians in the fact that he’s this little mangled beast that was taken and experimented on and torn apart and put back together, and we have to feel that character’s soul,” Gunn says. “If we see his plight, and see why he’s such an angry little guy, then the movie will work.”

Alright, Galaxians. Who do you think we could see, based on Thor, Avengers, and Thor: The Dark World? Are there any cameos you'd like to see that could link back to Earth and the Avengers that we didn't see in the previous movies?

I'd love to find someone from the "Rocket is an alien" side of the argument, just to hear the opposing side. While I'm 100% Raccoon, I'd love to hear the debate from someone who is 100% Alien on the subject.
