Was That A Kree In The Latest AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Episode?
WARNING: Spoilers from the latest episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. below...
In last night's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode, entitled 'T.A.H.I.T.I.,' Agent Coulson found out a little bit more about how he was brought back to life (after being killed by Loki in The Avengers). Apparently, an injection of a mystery fluid was inserted into his body, allowing his organs to heal. Coulson traced the tubes of the mystery fluid to their point of origin: the body of an unknown, deceased, blue humanoid creature (pictured below).
If you don't know what a Kree is, you probably haven't read many cosmic Marvel comics. The Kree are one of the most famous alien races in the Marvel Universe. In fact, Ronan The Accuser (played by Lee Pace in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film) is a member of the Kree race. They are typically large in appearance, with either blue or pink skin.

Needless to say, the internet went wild with speculation over what this creature was exactly. Some thought it was Coulson's dead body. Some believe it to be a Atlantean, an ancient race from the underwater city of Atlantis. However, the most popular opinion is that the creature is, in fact, a Kree.

In the comics, the Kree are expects at genetic manipulation, so it would make sense that they would possess some sort of healing power. Also, Carol Danvers (aka Captain Marvel) earned her superpowers after a Kree experiment changed her genetics.
If this creature is, in fact, Kree, could this mean that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be tying into Guardians of the Galaxy more than we had originally expected? With Marvel Studios calling the shots, I would not be surprised....

Andy Lanning Talks All Things GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
SciFiNow recently got the chance to talk to Andy Lanning, co-creator of the "new"Guardians of the Galaxy. Lanning spoke openly about his excitement for the upcoming Guardians film, as well as his confidence in director James Gunn. Here's some quotes from the interview:
- "Dan and I got to visit the set and read the script and were very impressed with what James Gunn has done. He’s been very generous to acknowledge that the film version of the team is inspired by our run on the comic. But the film is the film and has to tell its own story. However, the characters are more like friends than distant cousins, because everyone from the director, the producers, and actors went out of their way to be respectful to what we had established."
- "James Gunn has done such a good job in the film script to define them (Rocket and Groot), particularly Rocket. It actually unlocks more areas about them to explore. The Groot story I’m writing and Phil Jimenez is drawing for Guardians Of The Galaxy #100 delves into Groot’s past and goes someway to explain why he left Planet X and why he and Rocket are buddies."
- Asked about a Nova Movie, Lanning replied, "Having one film based on your work is a once in a lifetime happening you dream of, having two would probably have me dancing like Snoopy on crack!"
Andy Lanning and Dan Abnett are two people whose stamp of approval we value the most. It sounds like Mr. Lanning is very happy with what he's seen so far. Can't wait for Guardians of the Galaxy #14!What do you think? Drop us a comment below!

Flarkin' Awesome! 009 by Leo Wyld (Editorial)
Cosmic greetings, all! This is Leo Wyld, the Raccoonatic Commander. We Raccoonatics have had much cause for celebration the past couple weeks, with a deluge of all variety of Guardians of the Galaxy related news, from the Toy Fair to the trailer to hearing Rocket speak on the movie for the fist time (and, oh yeah, I won Marvel Fan of the Week). This month will be important to me for another reason, but that is a few weeks off, we are gonna slow down a bit this week and reflect...
Flarkin' Awesome! 009 - That Was... Flarkin' Awesome! (A Retrospective)
What is true today, may not be true tomorrow. In the fast-paced world we live in, where information can be presented and adjusted constantly and continuously, facts can change within hours of expressing them. Even an internet publication, such as a recurring blog segment, say, can suffer from this, especially when such a segment could potentially be read months after it was written. Technically, I could go back and edit past Flarkin' Awesome! issues to make them more accurate, but that would not help those who have already read those issues. So, today, I am gonna take a look back at the past issues of Flarkin' Awesome and see if/how the subjects they address have changed or progressed. (And there is something new discuss at the end, so at least read the closing, I have a request of the community) - (More After the Jump)
My debut issue. This was about Rocket's voice and how it been portrayed in media where we hear Rocket speak. As some are likely aware, Rocket once had something of a subtle Cockney accent. One reason that this topic was decided on was the then-rumored casting of Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon. We now know that rumor was quite true. And, after a Twitter exchange with Agent M, not long after that issue, we learned Marvel's vision for the hero no longer includes that Cockney accent. First heard without the accent on the Ultimate Spider-man cartoon, he later lacked it in the ad for the NYCC exclusive Rocket plushie. And now we have heard Bradley's take on the hero. Do I miss the Cockney, maybe some. But I'll still have it on Marvel Heroes. And, that aside, I think Bradley sounded fantastic in the snippet we heard! So, to summarize, no more Cockney accent for Rocket, and I think I can adapt.
Rocket's costumes for Marvel Heroes. I am happy to report Marvel Heroes is still doing well and still running. Unfortunately, Rocket's costume collection is still pretty much exactly the same. We did get one new costume, Deep Space, but still waiting on some of those wish list costumes. Especially Timely Inc. And I have learned that the name"Timely Inc." was one of the main things making it difficult for Gazillion to get the costume added, I have suggested alternately titling it "Mailroom Clerk" or "Employee Raccoon". The former got a favorite from Gazillion's Community Manager. They really wanna see that costume happen, too, so still hoping. And, another note, the incomplete "mask" on Rocket's Guardians NOW! costume is not a bug, but intentional. I had a response from the artist and they said the look was indicative of the reference picture Marvel had given them for the costume (I think I unintentionally insulted them in the process of the discussion, but I did apologize for the misunderstanding)
September 22nd marked six months from the date I coined "Raccoonatic" as a word for a fan of Rocket Raccoon (might want to think about that for a moment, it will be related to something upcoming). I examined how I became the Raccoonatic Commander and looked at the fandom in general. Now, it is becoming a great time to be a Raccoonatic, with the Guardians of the Galaxy, and thus Rocket himself, slowly beginning to capture the mainstream public's attention. To paraphrase a certain popular movie, though, "We liked Rocket before it was cool."
Rocket's a complex dude with a complex past, and, as such, he has a bunch of question marks surrounding who he is, what he is, and his history. Just a quick summary, nope, still don't have all the answers. If anything, with Bendis continuing to dance around the raccoon/not-a-raccoon retcon concept, I may have more questions now. (Don't get me wrong, though, Rocket issues aside, Bendis is a cool guy and I think volume 3 is entertaining). Will we have solid answers to some of these questions soon, maybe. I think many of them will be resolved in his own series this summer. Remember, as to the what, the official Raccoonatic stance is that we will always consider Rocket to be a genetically modified raccoon, any indications to something else are clearly the work of some illusionist/mind-warping villain working behind the scenes. Hehheh.
If one article had a major, major turnaround in the subject presented... it was this one. Wow. The article was an examination of what merchandise was available for Raccoonatics to purchase. As was the situation at the time, not a whole lot. Part of the article was essentially lamenting the lack of cool stuff Rocket fans had to buy compared to other heroes. Come this summer, we now know that is gonna totally and completely change. Largely because of James Gunn's awesome film, the Raccoonatics are going from drought to flood. Seriously, it looks like it will be quite overwhelming financially, but, hey, I prefer that to the alternative! (Also, for the video games section, Rocket has essentially been confirmed to be coming to the kid-friendly browser based Super Hero Squad Online)
Rocket's moves on Marvel Heroes are examined and compared to comic canon. No real update here. I do not think Rocket has even seen a balance adjustment since that writing, and his large redesign is still likely months off. So, not much to say. I dunno, play Marvel Heroes if you haven't, it's awesome.
Flarkin' Awesome! 007 - Raccoonatics vs. The World
No link, because I am withdrawing my own support of this editorial. I have issues I need to work through, and I am emotional sometimes, maybe became I am artistic sort. Sometimes I get in bad moods, and I was in one when I wrote that. I was also dealing with some bullying in Marvel Heroes and on Twitter at the time, so that did not likely help. Some of the basic concepts of the complaints I stand by. Sly is awesome but not as awesome as Rocket, I stand by that. A genetically modified raccoon is an origin for Rocket that was first presented in the comics, not the movie. I bought the 360 version of LEGO Marvel, love it, and the people who made the game have just been totally cool to me on Twitter, but I still think Rocket should've had some situational powers. And Rocket Raccoon should have absolutely and totally been one of the top 25 heroes of 2013 (you're totally awesome Marvel, but still a little vexed about that). All that said, it was wrong of me to specify the sites involved and attack them in the way I did, so my sincere apologies to superheromoviesnews.com and heyuguys.co.uk. I've asked that the Issue be deleted and I have unlinked it from my home site. I am gonna actively try to be more positive from here on out.
About Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3's portrayal of Rocket Raccoon. This article was only written a couple weeks ago about a console game that had already been out for years before I wrote the article. You may not be surprised to learn, then, there really is not anything to update factually for that issue. Except for one fairly significant thing. Capcom completely lost the Marvel license. Which means that the game can longer be purchased digitally and, also, that the DLC for it is no longer available (which means no 80's costume for Rocket for the Raccoonatic Commander. Not a big deal, if I had really wanted it, I would have bought it before it was pulled)
And Here We Are...
I once proposed the concept of a recurring segment that was specifically about Rocket Raccoon to a friend of mine. That friend said simply the idea would not work, that it was a bad idea. To be fair, this friend skews critical about most things and is not really a Raccoonatic, so I can not blame that opinion. But I think I've done okay with the idea, so, readers, use that as an example of why you should believe in yourself. Ok, mini-PSA over, we need to talk about the future...
I have a request from you, my readers, Galaxians, Raccoonatics, newcomers... I am writing this on the 1st of March, in three weeks from this writing, I have my tenth Flarkin' Awesome. It will be important to me for a particular reason and I am asking for your input. Tell me why you think Rocket Raccoon is awesome. Or if you have any other cool insights into the hero you would like to share. Do so in the Comments section.
Until next time, stay awesome, and I'll see ya Round the 'Raccooniverse.

Tidbits From GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY / AMC Interview
Director James Gunn, Actor Chris Pratt, and Producer Kevin Feige were live in the AMC studio answering questions about their upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film. Not much was given away, but check out what was below...
- The second trailer will show more a more dramatic side of the film and will be released in the next few months.
- Feige said there may not be a post-credits scene, but there probably will be.
- Gunn said the trailer captures one aspect of the movie really well.
- Much of the movie was inspired by Abnett / Lanning run of comics.
- Gunn talked about saying no a million times about casting Chris Pratt, before changing his mind after the audition.
- Pratt talked about wearing the mask. They bolted it to his head, he could see through it, there was a microphone in it and it looks really cool. :)
- Bug will not be in the film. Feige mentioned a sequel if the first movie is successful.
- The tone of the movie is said to be about the characters. Gunn talked about the importance of Rocket Raccoon being believable and not 'Bugs Bunny in The Avengers'.
- James Gunn didn't know how big the song would be after the trailer came out.
- 'Hooked on a Feeling' will be in the film. There will be a lot of other cool songs in the movie.
- Cosmo will probably be in the film judging from Kevin Feige's reaction (or maybe not).
- Gunn talked about how he hates making movies, but feels driven to make films. He doesn't really like the shooting of films, but he enjoyed making this movie more than he makes other movies.
- Pratt talked more about his weight loss and the training he went through.
- Feige said, "It couldn't be more distant in the geography to the other films. 99% of this movie takes place on the other side of the galaxy...There are a handful of characters in the movie that will carry through to the broader threats of the other Marvel movies."
- Gunn talked a lot about giving the actors roles they hadn't done before.
- Gunn said, "This is at the core of it, a character piece...it really is driven by the characters and their relationships. Finding actors who could exhibit the different roles...giving actors the chance to do something they haven't done before...We need to make Rocket as real as possible."
- Chris Pratt said, "I couldn't find all that much about this character (Starlord)...I told James I have nothing but questions...James said "there are many incarnations of the character but we are looking for something to breathe their own style into this character.""
- Kevin Feige said, "All of us wanted to do something new, original....doing something most people hadn't heard of....We are excited about doing something on the other side of our universe."
- James Gunn said, "Guardians of the Galaxy is a team of outerspace criminals who get tossed together and find themselves in the presence of something evil...so they fight evil together.

Cosmo Will Appear (Probably) and Bug Will Not Appear in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
During an AMC interview with James Gunn, Chris Pratt, and Kevin Feige, when asked if Cosmo would be in the film, producer Kevin Feige said "Fans of Cosmo will have to wait and see the movie." With no denial and the inclusion of Knowhere in the film, I would say that there's a big possibility of Cosmo (the telepathic Russian dog) showing up.
Bad news: Gunn admitted that Bug (a former member of GOTG)was in an early draft of the script, but will not be in the film. However, if the film is successful, there will be a sequel, according to Kevin Feige and James Gunn!

New GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Video Game News!
MTVhas reported that the Facebook game, Marvel: Avengers Alliance, will add the Guardians of the Galaxy as playable characters, just in time for their film debut in August. Marvel's VP of Games, TQ Jefferson, had the following to say: "You've got Groot, who is a massive tree and is very physical and monstrous like The Hulk. Rocket is going to pack a lot of heat with the array of guns he has available. You've got Gamora, an assassin and the deadliest woman in the known universe. Drax has a couple of big knives and is just as dangerous as Gamora. Then you have Star-Lord, the swashbuckler, who plays the lead role on the team. He'll have an array of abilities, he's pretty versatile."
Also, in other Guardians of the Galaxy video game news, online multiplayer game Marvel Heroes will be adding a new costume for playable character, Rocket Raccoon (pictured to the left). It is called the'Timely Inc.'costume and is what Rocket wore in his Annihilators miniseries while working for the company of the same name. Shout-out to our main man, Leo Wyld, for hitting us up with that info.

Gamora and Drax Look Fierce In New GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Promotional Art
Not sure how we overlooked this, but here is a new promotional image of Gamora and Drax (pictured to the right) from Guardians of the Galaxy , revealed at the New York Toy Fair a few weeks back. In my opinion, these images are much better than the promotional images we've already seen. Gamora actually looks like "the most dangerous woman in the galaxy," while Drax looks like he's ready to bust some heads.
Let's hope that Marvel chooses to use them on most of the merchandise, as opposed to what has already been released.
Which promotional images do you think are better? Are you planning on buying any Guardians of the Galaxy products when they are released? Drop us a comment below...

Karen Gillan Talks About The Nebula/Gamora Fight Scene From GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
MTV recently got a chance to talk to Karen Gillan (Nebula) at SXSW. In the interview, she talked a little bit about her role in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film. Check out some of the quotes below...
- "I just think it's a new direction for Marvel, it's really, really funny. It's not taking itself seriously at all. It's tongue in cheek. And just to see people be excited about that new tone is cool."
- "Nebula does not find herself funny. I find her hilarious. But she can't find herself hilarious, that's not scary."
- Talking about a fight scene between her character Nebula and Zoe Saldana's character Gamora, Gillan said, "There's a big girlie fight sequence, but it's not that girlie. They made sure there weren't any nice pirouettes or anything like that. She's [Saldana] really experienced in the physical stuff, she was a ballerina. She's really amazing at all of that stuff. She barely required any rehearsal, she was like, 'I can do this.' I required two months of rehearsals every day that I wasn't shooting, because I looked like spaghetti when I started."
- Speaking more about the fight scene, Gillan added "This is the integral one for my character, because it's not just a physical battle. Their relationship goes very deep, and there's a huge history between them. So there's a lot more to it than just the physical."
Head on over to MTV to check out the full interview. Drop us a comment below and let us know how you think Karen Gillan will do as Nebula?

SPOILER: Potential GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Connection From Latest AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Episode
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been getting better and better lately. The past three episodes have been phenomenal, as the story of Agent Coulson's revival has gotten more and more intriguing. Last week, on the episode'T.A.H.I.T.I.', Coulson came face to face with a blue alien, whose blood we assume saved his life. On the latest episode 'Yes Men', Asgardian warrior, Lady Sif, came to Earth to round up Lorelei, an Asgardian seductress. While Sif was on Earth, Coulson got a chance to ask her about the race of the alien...Spoilers after the jump.
On tonight's episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Coulson indirectly asked Lady Sif about what race the alien from last week's episode, T.A.H.I.T.I., could have been. In her response, Lady Sif name dropped the following blue alien races: Kree (Ronan The Accuser), Centaurian (Yondu), Antidite, Levian, Fargoth, Sark, and Frost Giant. She then added that each race hadn't been to Earth in a while.
For those who don't know, the villain of the Guardians of the Galaxy film is Ronan The Accuser, a Kree warrior. Could this possibly mean that our theory is correct? Was the blue alien from last week's episode actually a Kree? If so, does this mean that Skye will have some sort of superpower after being injected with its blood? Could this lead to the MCU's version of The Inhumans?
On the other hand, Centaurians were also mentioned, which means that the alien could be the same race as Yondu, one of the original Guardians of the Galaxy. We still have many more questions, but one thing is for sure, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is not only getting better, it's quickly being connected to the cosmic side of the MCU. What this means for potential Guardians of the Galaxy crossovers in the second season is still up to debate. But we'll keep watching!

ALL-NEW X-MEN #24 Review (Trial of Jean Grey Part 5)
All-New X-Men #24
Written by: Brian Michael Bendis
Art by: Stuart Immonen
Written by: Brian Michael Bendis
Art by: Stuart Immonen
Before starting 'The Trial of Jean Grey', I hadn't been keeping up with All-New X-Men at all, but this issue might have got me hooked. The issue starts off at the trial of Jean Grey. She is a prisoner of the Shi'ar, and let's just say they haven't been treating her with much respect. Gladiator is the head of this whole sordid affair, and he keeps pushing Jean Grey until she's about to explode. Then, once again, J'son of Spartax shows up. He brings something previously unknown to Jean Grey to light, which doesn't sit well with her at all. Meanwhile, the X-Men, Starjammers, and Guardians are in space, sneaking their way through a sea of Shi'ar vessels in attempt to get to Jean Grey.
The issue doesn't focus too much on the Guardians, but I don't think they were ever intended to be the focus of 'The Trial of Jean Grey'. They do, however, get some great comedic moments, especially one scene involving Starlord talking to the younger X-Men. We also see more of Angela being awesome, as she demonstrates her skills by taking on a whole squad of Shi'ar guards all by herself.
The artwork and writing are great as usual. Stuart Immonen does a great job drawing these characters. He ranks up there with Sara Pichelli for being able to convey so much emotion through the character's facial expressions. Bendis keeps the humor going strong, while also making us very worried about Jean Grey, and what she is capable of.
Another great issue. Rating: 4.5/5

Additional Filming For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Begins At Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, CA
Earlier today, director James Gunn confirmed on his Twitter that additional filming for Marvel Studios'Guardians of the Galaxy has begun at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, CA. In his tweet, Gunn simply stated, "Disney lot, additional shooting, early as hell." with a picture of the WDS lot (pictured to the left).
So far, John C. Reilly (who plays Nova Corps Officer, Rhomann Dey) is the only cast member confirmed for the shoot. He was reportedly seen at the studio, yesterday, by Joe Hennes, who posted on Twitter, "Visiting the Disney lot, just met John C. Reilly while filming Guardians of the Galaxy!! He just came right up to us and said hi. So cool." This means that the additional scenes being filmed involve the Nova Corps in some capacity. Could they possibly introduce Richard Rider, the character known as 'NOVA'? There's also a possibility that Marvel is shooting scenes featuring Thanos. Only time will tell!
We'll see what else we can dig up about the shoot, so stay tuned for more info as it comes!
