The Guardians of the Galaxy movie comes out in August, but that hasn't stopped Marvel from releasing a prequel to the film in comic form. We recently sat down to read Guardians of the Galaxy Prequel #1, which tells the origin of Nebula, Thanos' (adopted?) daughter. Now, we're going to tell you everything you need to know from the comic, before you see the movie! SPOILERS BELOW!
Now, we'll tell you what we learned from the 'Guardians of the Galaxy Prequel #1' comic.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY PREQUEL #1
1. Two of the planets that exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are Praxius IX and Dervani. Neither one of them have previously existed in the comics (as far as we know).
2. Nebula and Gamora call each other "Sister". They also call Thanos "Master". It is obvious that Thanos has been training them to be deadly killers from a young age. This keeps with Gamora's comic origin, but strays from Nebula's.
3. Thanos needs the orb for his "universal scheme". Since we know that the infinity stones exist in the Marvel Universe, this is further proof that the orb is an Infinity stone.
4. Nebula has come close to death many times, once at the hand of Gamora. Each time, Thanos has restored her body with cybernetic body parts, in an attempt to make her stronger and deadlier through failure. She's almost half machine by the beginning of the film.
5. Gamora was once super freakin' evil. She let her "sister" Nebula fall to her death, after Nebula spared her life. It seems at the start of the film, Gamora feels bad about the evil she committed...but still...Really, Gamora!? You tried to kill your sister?!?
6. Korath (played by Djimon Hounsou) was trained to be a killer along with Nebula and Gamora. They all three work for Ronan, who works for Thanos. There's a little bit of a "Kill Bill" situation going on in the film, since Gamora decides to get out of the evil business.
That's all folks! PART ONE CAN BE FOUND HERE. PART THREE WILL BE IN JUNE!
