Marvel gave us some of the best sci-fi/fantasy comics with Annihilition/Conquest/War of Kings. It was some beautiful story arcs that presented the extended Marvel U in ways we'd rarely seen before.

And now Marvel has a chance to bring back that cosmic presence with the success of Guardians of the Galaxy, both in the comics and with the upcoming movie. Marvel has a unique opportunity to kick start a whole new branch of cosmic comics, separate, though connected, to the Earth based stories.

I think, separated out into just a few titles, over the course of a month (as to not upset those of us with short attention spans or those prone to separation anxiety), Marvel could bring a vibrant, ever-expanding universe (science pun! FTW!) that could lead into more cosmic movies, if handled properly.

See my suggestions after the break!

Guardians of the Galaxy: These are the Guardians. They're mission: To seek out trouble, and annoy StarLord's father at every opportunity. To cause property damage to every dive-bar in the universe. To bodily go, where no Raccoon as gone before!

Nova Corps: Sam Alexander sets off on a mission to revive the Corps and re-establish a much needed neutral-party force for good in the universe. First goal? Save Richard Rider! (I see this starting out as Sam/Richard, and moving into more of a Nova Corps book, and not just aNova book. And let's face this, this Council of Galactic Empires is just going to cause more trouble. We need to the Corps to balance out the Council's ego.)

Starjammers: Space pirates with hearts of gold. Unlike their comrades, The Guardians, the 'Jammers aren't seeking out trouble. They're just trying to make their way in this crazy universe without have to lick any boots. Wackiness ensues. (Basically Firefly meets Black Sails. Ooo. I just got chills. This needs to be a thing.)

Unnamed Book Idea: I want a general cosmic book. I want one that tells a story of a character, and then moves on. Let's have a Ronan story that runs into Silver Surfer and then flows into Beta-Ray Bill, then we pick up a Wraith story, tell a compelling Skrull story, and then move on. These don't even have to always be set in present day. You can guest spot some of the others, GotG, StarJammers and Nova in smaller side stories. Let's see what some of the previous Guardians are up to! Just expand the universe and keep these other things moving. I wouldn't mind the All-New X-Men sticking around to become a cosmic team. I've always felt Kitty Pryde needed to be in space. Let Scott have the time with Corsair that OlderScott never really got, in different ways.

But that's just one man's opinion (let's be honest, though, I'm brilliant), what cosmic books do you think need to become a staple for the Marvel shelves? Do you disagree with the outlines for a specific title? Let your voices be heard! Just make sure they're inside voices. My ears bruise easily.
